My Ignited Experience! Part 2: Brendon Bruchard

This blog is to share information shared by Brendon Bruchard at our USANA annual convention.
He shared the way to improve one's quality of life is to activate 10 drives that make us human.
The book shows how these drives shape what humans think, feel, and do in life.
Often our self protection is the thing that keeps us from moving forward

Brendon Burchard - Live. Love. Matter.

  (like his page on facebook)

Before convention, I was not very familiar with Brendon Burchard, but wow, what a speaker! What a story! In Life's Golden Ticket, Brendon Burchard shares how he feels he is given a second chance at life when faced with death as a young man in a car accident & asked himself these questions in that moment:
 Did I live?
 Did I love!?
 Did I even matter?
 Did I have purpose?

He realized that @ the end, you evaluate your life, but why wait for the end, when it is too late!?
Start redirecting your life with these questions today!

We must learn how to activate our basic human drives to create a strong charge -to give us courage that nothing can hold us back & feel fully alive!

We have 10 things that drive us (He has a thing for C words!):

Baseline Drives - must haves                     Forward Drives - that create growth & change
Control (certainty)                                           Change (novelty with gains & thinking
big)
Competence (self knowledge)                              Challenge (Something worth fighting for,
                                                                                                     fulfilling journey,  fearless)
Congruence (who you are & want to be)                     Creative expression (share your passion)
Caring (for self & others)                                 Contribution (the more you give, the more
you feel alive - give of,  give to, mentor)
Connection (fully engaged relationships)              Consciousness (the thoughts we think -> feel)

Fear keeps us from moving forward, unless we see it in a different perspective
  1. Loss pain --> what will I gain?
  2. Process pain --> commit to mastery - so maybe it takes 100 times
  3. Outcome pain --> look forward to the change, get psyched about it
When you come to the edge of the light... --> fly.
This touched me:
He told a story of a student that he helped overcome her fear of speaking in his class,
She said, "You're the first person who told me I have potential"
Who can you inspire today to see their potential!?

What is your primary purpose?
The average person watches 4 hours of tv a day - 13 years of television in your lifetime!
870,000
The inbox is other people's intentions

      Brendon suggests:
In the first hour of your day - no computer

Lay out the day on a piece of paper divided into these 4 categories:
  • Projects
  • People
  • Waiting on & Reach out to
  • Priorities (3-7 things)

Do you have who you are set in your mind - your ideal self?

Leader
Joyful
Passionate
Set it as an alarm -
Are you being your ideal self? Is what you are doing in congruency with this self!?

Design your life
Is your life caged?
Is your life comfortable?
Is your life charged?

Be Open & Observant in the moment
Be Future oriented

My Ignited Experience! Part 1: Tony Robbins :D

So every year, the company that we are partnered with throws a big International Convention in Salt Lake City. They have won several Stevie awards for Best Live Event. Every year, you wonder how are they going to one up this year. At the 20th Anniversary convention, they gave every single one of us attending ipads so we could share the truehealthassessment that they came out with! This year, Tony Robbins headlined the star studded cast of speakers, along with Brendon Bruchard, Jen Groover, Denis Waitley and Dr. Oz!

Since it is over and you can't attend it this year, I thought I would share highlights! (Let me know if you would like to attend next year!  Literally 3 days worth of amazing training for $239.) So, I'll share in the order I experienced it...

He spoke from the stage...
and then got down into the crowd!

So Friday morning started with Anthony Robbins and an unusual 90 minute seminar (if you'd like to do his 50 hour seminar in Dallas October 23-26, 2014, let me know & I may be able to get you special pricing!) We had donated $10 to The True Health Foundation for seats right on the floor in the Celebration Zone for this session and wow, were they worth it! When Tony Robbins came out, you could feel the excitement! We all have the potential to electrify a crowd like that - he shared with us a couple of things to help us be able to do that!

It all starts with a Strategy - a Plan - a System. Call it what you want - it's like laying out the tracks for the rail road, the highways for cars. You must build a brand. And then, Do more for others than anyone else does consistently! We must overcome our fears and concerns and share what we have to offer. Reality is the key - you must first believe in yourself and all that you offer and then others will follow suit! When you have this set, you know where you are going and it is easier to get others to see it too!

Ahhhhhhhhh....wooh! :D
We must put ourselves in peak state. This helps us to become a greater influencer. Before meeting with someone, get your mind set and the rawness of enthusiasm and passion will carry you through any mistakes you might make! Think of when you are in love - Nothing is wrong - all is right in the world - you'll do anything for that person! This is a great peak state to be in! (So right now, stand up and jump up & down and scream WOOOOooooOOOOhhh! for 10 seconds. Yes, even if you are in Starbucks! You will meet some great people who want to know what you are reading! Now, how do you feel - incredible, right!? If not, do it again until you do and quit being so hard - have fun! We only get one chance to do this life - let's do it right!) On a sheet of paper, draw a line down the middle - now, take a minute and write down all the emotions you feel daily - positive on the left and negative on the right - Go! How many did you get!? Is there a balance of emotions - interesting, huh!? See what happens the next time you have a meeting and put yourself in Peak State first! There is magic in it! :D

So what is your story? We must share our story to connect with others - it is important that we are clear what our story is to truly share it! Our story is our Vision - our driving force that lights the way to our desires. De-sire at its Latin roots means "Of the Father." So take time out and make it crystal clear so you can have uber-focus(my word for it) to your destination of success!
What is your limiting story? You know the one! The one that keeps us from living up to our true potential. Our reason for not achieving the things we want to but just never get around to. Write it down right now - this blog does not time out. DOdooDOdoDOdooDoo DOdoDOdoDO-doDOdoDOdo DOdooDOdoDOdooDoo-DO-do-DO-do-DO-do-DO duhnduhn (yes, this is totally the Jeopardy music, but if you need more time, take it - this is important!)
NOW, are you ready for this!? Ready or not, here it comes...
Divorce the limitations you set on yourself! Focus on what you do want and Let it Go - Let it Go! the limitations, that is! This is going to take lots of action, focus - get really clear on what you want in life and Go For It! Do it with emotional intensity and WIT - Whatever It Takes - attitude! All the while giving yourself and others grace as God gives us! If you fall, and we most definitely will a couple times, we just get back up remind ourselves of the purpose and vision that we have set before ourselves and go until we are there. It's all about our passion that we put into it!

Here is the Success Cycle: The more we live to our potential --> the more apt we are to take action --> and get results which builds --> belief in ourselves and others belief in us which creates certainty, thus us living more to --> our potential and --> so on and --> so on...-->!

People respond to certainty! & Perfect practice in mind = no failures - it's always better! Before you talk to someone rehearse it in your mind and set it! Before you know it, that certainty will come easier and easier! But, we have to get started. Don't let fear get in the way of you living your best life!
Anthony Robbins in motion behind me! Woo Hoo! :D
The Quality of Our  Life = The Quality of Our Emotions

So, daily I am applying these lessons I learned and I hope you will too! I am also doing the intensive in October in Dallas and I can't wait to see where I will go from here! My goal is to empower people to be their best selves - I focus on the physical, but will never get anywhere if the mindset is not there for change! I am working to incorporate this into my nutrition and wellness programs! Together, we can make a difference!

And, since I have gone long with Tony's part, I am going to make this a 2 or 3 parter! No regrets - I have shared what needs to be shared! I'd rather this all sink in than share more...till next time,
Go and Live with Passion! ~ me and Tony Robbins

Thank you 9/11! :D

So, today is September 11th and I was set to blog. How can I not write about what this day has come to represent to me? It has been 13 years and yet this day comes along and you can't help but be reminded where you were and what you were doing on 9/11/01.

I used to start my day getting my kids breakfast and on the bus and watching the Today show. But on 9/11, I decided I was going to clean the house and I wasn't going to be distracted by the television. I was cleaning away. I was in my zone and the phone rang. It was the school, so I answered it. My kids are a distraction that I will always take! Corwyn was sick and needed to be picked up. I went to Boone Elementary and there in the office was a tv with buildings on fire. There had never been a tv in there before, but I thought this was just something new. As I waited for Corwyn, I watched and said, "Is this in America!?" The ladies in the office replied, "Yes, a plane hit one of the twin towers in New York!" Still, we thought it was a terrible accident until the next plane hit the second tower!

This is the first change that occurred for me. My eyes were opened to terrorism and its ravage on innocent people. I had become so hardened to the images of war-torn counties and terrorism. Until it hit home, I was quite apathetic to the plight of other countries and their fighting. Now, I care more and have a bigger world view because of 9/11. It is absolutely horrible that there is such strife in this world. I have a bigger want for America to defend those who cannot defend themselves. So, Strike 1 terrorism. You just opened up a lot of American's eyes that day to how it felt to be attacked!

So I took Corwyn home and called my mom and my sister and we could not believe what was happening! I was talking with my sister as the first building fell and there was this strange reverse delay that it started to fall, went back up and then fell to the ground. We were aghast and in disbelief. I remember later, someone asking why they fell, and someone replying, what we should really ask is how they stood for as long as they did.

Takeaway #2 is that I take nothing for granted anymore! Every day is a gift! There were people just going to work, going on vacation, traveling to meet family that had no idea that this was it! THE END! We are so blessed to have each and every moment - every new day is a gift and it is up to us to make it the best day ever! I vowed that day to make a difference and honor those lost lives by making the most of mine! I believe there are many others out there that felt that same desire! The world is a better place because of 9/11 and our never forget, make a difference mentality. Take that terrorists!

I gave blood the next day and there were a meager handful out of the thousands that got pulled out of the wreckage of the twin towers falling. My blood would never be needed in New York. I am sure that the San Antonio blood bank was glad to get it and who knows whose life I changed! It felt good to put myself out there to help in what little way I could! I now think of little ways I can make a difference and don't hesitate when asked for help.

Sadly, there was just loss and sadness as the day went on. But, there was also hope! It could have been worse! A plane never made its target! People started to fight back and the plane that landed in a field had heroes that went down with it! There were beautiful stories of people who cared more for others than themselves and selflessly helped others at their own peril. I believe I am stronger and think of others because of these stories. America grew stronger cohesively that day and in the days since.  Hiyah - terrorists!

I see the world through different eyes - well, that and autism - opened my eyes to see the person standing beside me at the grocery store - to see the guy standing on the corner wanting money to get help - I say a prayer for them, whereas I used to think, get a job (not that I don't think they should still get a job - but it is thought with love not anger!) - to see a child and the pure innocence and want that to be protected - to see my neighbors and wave and say Hi and want to truly get to know them! I see everyone as a brother and sister in this life now! After all, we are all God's children!

I am still working on making a difference in this world, daily. I have three amazing children that I have raised with a bigger world perspective. I have become a health coach and my husband and I are working to make a difference in the health of others as well as ourselves - the turn-around for our family has been inspiring and we want to help others see such great results! It has become my passion. I still entertain as Marilyn Monroe and being a health coach has added years to me being able to do that! We have a mantra at our house, "Thank you, USANA!" I get to make people happy and smile at parties and on their special days! I am blessed!

My last and final take away, let's go out there and make a difference and know that we are blessed! The best way to fight terrorism is to show that we are the most amazing country in the world because of the people that live in it! We are one, but collectively making a difference as our goal, we are mighty! :D

The Marilyn in Me...the last 1/2 of my life so far!

Being Marilyn
My Headshot (my Norma Jeane phase)

So people ask me all the time, "How did you become Marilyn Monroe!" Well, it goes way back to when I was little and all these guys would lean down to me and say, "Do you know that your mother looks like Marilyn Monroe!?" Well, at the time, I didn't even know who she was, but my mom looked like her - she must be beautiful!

As the years went by and I was living in my passion of performing and singing, I was working at Disney World and Universal Studios came to Florida, putting a big ad in the paper  looking for look-alikes with Marilyn, of course, being one of them. I told my husband at the time that I thought I could be Marilyn! I don't think he believed me, but I think that made me even more determined! I went and bought pictures of Marilyn and taped them to our bathroom mirror. I bought a blonde wig and wore this really fun white dress I had with fringe! I was so committed to looking like Marilyn and I did catch their attention with my look! I even made the newspaper with some other gals wanting to be Marilyn! It's in a box somewhere - before everything was digital! :D

Performing with "Elvis"
At the audition, they asked,  "Wow, you look great, but do you know anything about Marilyn Monroe?" Woah, I hadn't thought this all the way through. "Uh, well, I know she was a sex symbol and she sang Happy Birthday Mr. President to JFK."  They laughed. "Well, we need you to know a little more than that! At Universal Studios, you will be walking the streets, meeting everyone, and we want guests to feel like they are really meeting Marilyn Monroe. There will be fans of hers that will know a lot about her and you need to know how to respond to them so they feel like they are meeting the real thing! We love your look and would love to have you study her and come back in a month and re-audition."

Yea! So I totally immersed myself into Marilyn Monroe! Every day, I watched a movie with her in it and I read books about her life and worked on speaking like her. One of the best lessons the gentlemen at the audition shared was to get the "essence" of Marilyn - that this was the most important part. So my mirror got some more work out - speaking and moving my lips the way she did. I learned that she was self conscious about her teeth from something an agent once said to her, so it made sense why she moved her lips the way she did, trying to hide her teeth! Poor thing! She was so self conscious. But she was determined to not let anything get in her way of becoming a movie star! (I told you - I immersed myself!) I drove my ex-husband crazy (still not believing in me - thus the ex attachment) with my new Marilyn obsession. Another great lesson learned: I became, like her, determined to make this happen and worked tirelessly at it to achieve it! What a gift! :D

Me & friends in the Universal Studios - Florida souvenir book
So the big day comes and I audition and the one question that I remember them asking me was, "What is your favorite present that you ever received?" So I answered with the first thing that came into my head. "I remember one Christmas getting an orange from my foster family and I carried that orange around all day with me - it was so special to me." They stopped and asked, "Did that really happen?" I replied, "Yes!," and they said, "Okay, don't go that deep! We want the happy, effervescent Marilyn - the one that everyone perceives from the screen." I learned my second great lesson from them. People want happy - they want to be entertained and have a good time. Brilliant - it has helped me to be a true entertainer all these years!

At an event with the Rotel's Hot Tomatoes & members of Jerry Lee Lewis' band
I got the part and have been being Marilyn for 20+ years! It is the greatest blessing! I have done hundreds of fun parties and events and met thousands of amazing people. It is so energizing to constantly meet new people! I get to do what I love: sing and make people happy! What an amazing thing to get to make people feel really special when Marilyn sings, "Happy Birthday Mr. President!" I was even the featured picture in People magazine with the review for the show, The Next Best Thing! Talk about a great week: I got remarried (to a man who really believes in me) on 7/7/07, honeymooned in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and had my picture in People magazine. Maybe we should have gone to Vegas!

The article in People - Check out their caption - Ha! :D
To date, I have outlived Marilyn almost 12 years and my secret is taking care of my health - my job depends on it! I am currently writing a book to share the Marilyn I have come to know over the years and insights that I have learned through Being Marilyn - my title. It has been such a great gift to represent her and I want to share the lessons I learned along the way that have shaped me into the woman I am today - even without my blonde wig and white halter dress, I still can hold a room! I want to share these insights with other women and share the beautiful, misunderstood, witty, woman that Marilyn Monroe was that most don't know! I will also share Tips to Try at the end of each chapter to help women come outside their comfort zone and be their best self - confident and free to be sexy, vibrant and everything that was fun about Marilyn! Life is to be enjoyed - we all take ourselves a little too seriously, like me and my answer of an orange - as my favorite present!? What was I thinking!?

I am
smiling!

SMILE!

It makes you very attractive!

So years ago, I threw out the idea of writing this book, and I have been saying that I am doing it for years. I went to a mastermind meeting yesterday and got inspired! Be bold & Step through Fear is my takeaway from this meeting! (I highly suggest getting into a Mastermind group - We are the average of the 5 people we hang out with!) Marilyn stepped out of her comfort zone and once again, so shall I - look for my book - coming soon! Wait, I have to really declare it. Thanks Kerry Sheppard. Okay, here it goes. Coming February 14th, 2015! What a great Valentine's present! Wish me luck! :D

Random & Corwyn in the beginning...

So when my first son Corwyn was born, I thought he was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! He had all his fingers and toes and was healthy - prayers answered! I never knew how much you could love someone until that moment and on! I had never truly loved unconditionally - the way a mother loves her child! My heart overflowed and I had a blast with my son - and watching him hit all his "benchmarks." A short 17 months later, I had boy/girl twins. My life became "Mi Vida Loca" and Corwyn became a different child. I thought he was regressing because he went from being one to one  of three and the other two required  a lot of attention. My marriage fell to pieces and Corwyn had started to scream for hours at a time non-stop. When Corwyn was three, we separated and divorced. As hard as it was to become a single mother of three, Corwyn's yelling reduced immensely. It was as if he felt the tension and screamed due to it! He still wasn't talking and our pediatrician referred us to the school system that was about to let out for summer so they sent us to Village of Hope to get testing to share with them when they got back after summer.

Random and Corwyn
Corwyn and Kira

So while they were asking all these questions about Corwyn, I realized that I needed to bring Random in as well as he fit some of the profile questions. Well,  so my boys both had autism. They told me I took it very well. I was just glad to know what I was up against! So we got Corwyn into a pre-K program and Random into a program that helped from 2 - 3 year olds. When Corwyn was in Kindergarten, he became the teacher's pet and she warned me that he might have to do Kindergarten again as he might not be ready for 1st grade. But by the end of Kindergarten, he pulled through and though she loved him - let him go! We were so blessed early on to have people who just adored and helped the boys!

We moved to California and they have it going on to help people with autism. Well, at least God guided us in the right direction! Corwyn was now talking and finally potty trained at 4. Random started talking at 5 (Potty training was a whole 'nother story!) He came home from school one day and said "Mom, we learned a song at school today (and sang) G-R-E-E-N, G-R-E_E-N, that is how you spell Green, G-R-E-E-N!" I said, "That is the most beautiful song I've ever heard!," with tears streaming down my face. (Many years later, I was telling the story, & said that at the time that is how I felt - not that it was the most beautiful song I'd ever hear but music to my ears, and Random chimed in, "Wow, I am so glad to hear that! I thought it was and I have often wondered how that could be your favorite song!" Ah, autism and how our kids see the world!) Random spoke in full sentences from there on as if someone flipped a switch! The boys were both in classes designated to work with kids with autism and wonderful, magical things happened that year! But I got homesick for my family back in Texas and moved back to San Antonio. At first, their teachers said that I brought them back to show off! That is how big the change in them was.

It got tough from here...the boys really struggled for years in school. I was constantly called to calm them via phone or had to go get the boys from suspension because something set them off. Thank you Lord, that I worked from home. I could have never worked a normal 9-5 job! During this time, Corwyn's weight really got out of control. He was and still is a very picky eater (another fun trait of autism), but we had to address it because he didn't fir into clothes you could just go buy at Marshall's or Target. - Remember, I was a single mom on a budget!) So, we drew a line in the sand and said no to the next size up and searched to find a way to help him lose weight.

We walked and finally got him to do it on his own - I literally drug him along at the beginning, giving him incentives to make it to the stop sign and so on! The walking helped but we still went into 40s and XXL shirts. Then, it was a true line in the sand! He was getting so big - the kids were bullying and making fun of him. Even Random, in all his honesty, would tell Corwyn how fat he was. So when I got invited to a meeting and heard about someone losing 50 lbs. I was all in! How do I get this program! It took a little nudging for my husband. He didn't think it would work and it was a big investment to start and continue the program, but it worked and was worth every penny! The best part is not just the weight loss, but what happened next, I never expected...
Corwyn has lost even more weight since this pic! But look at that happy family! (+ 2 friends) :D

Corwyn started having conversations with us - that he initiated! He noticed my mom was out of town and asked to call and speak with her and had a long conversation on the phone! He knocked on the door and wished us Happy Anniversary in the morning! It was just amazing the transformation not just physically but also emotionally and behaviorally. He started laughing and smiling and could focus on things better. I researched to find out what was creating this transformation and realized we were instituting Nutritional Therapy. How had I not ever seen this before? I grew up with a Chiropractic grandfather and we were very into alternative ways of healing. Well, I am just glad I finally did stumble across it!
Corwyn at his high school graduation! :D
Now both the boys are in college doing great! Random even was on the Dean's List his second semester and they were invited into the National Society for Leadership and Success. So, I started this blog - not to brag on my boys but to shine a light at the end of the tunnel of autism and show that there is a way to navigate through it! Your child is not doomed to a life of nothingness! Yeah, I had people tell me this and say that I had high expectations. You bet I did and still do - if we do not help our kids to be the best they can be, well, then they will never be all that is possible within them and there is such brilliance there! If you would like a health guide for autism and know more about nutritional therapy, e-mail me at kristycasey@usana.com. It actually cost very little to help them to balance their systems and I would love to help you help your child. It is what I feel is God's purpose for me and brings me great joy!
Love, JOY & Peace,
Kristy
